Manifesto of the Shared Platforms for Artistic Mobilization (SPAM) Preamble: In the face of an art world dominated by centralized systems and a select few individuals, we, the artists of the Shared Platforms for Artistic Mobilization (SPAM), seek to radically transform the way art is curated, exhibited, and documented. We believe that decentralization can empower artists from diverse backgrounds, promote equitable representation, and prevent the capitalization of the collective work by a handful of artists. To achieve this, we present the following principles and guidelines as the foundation of our movement. I. Decentralization and Open Exhibitions 1. SPAM encourages the use of decentralized platforms for the exhibition and documentation of artwork, ensuring that no single institution or individual holds power over the artistic narrative. 2. We advocate for open exhibitions, where any artist, regardless of their background or standing in the art world, can showcase their work alongside their peers. 3. We support the use of digital technologies to democratize access to exhibitions, allowing artists to reach audiences around the globe without being bound by physical limitations. II. Decentralized Curation and Documentation 1. SPAM promotes collaborative curation, where multiple voices and perspectives are considered in the selection, display, and interpretation of artworks. 2. We embrace the use of open-source platforms to document and preserve the history of the movement, ensuring that information is accessible to all and that it evolves as our understanding grows. II. Decentralized Curation and Documentation 3. We encourage artists to actively engage with their own documentation, empowering them to contribute to the collective narrative and challenge any misrepresentations. 4. SPAM ensures that all voices are considered through a system of checks and balances within the movement, including a rotating committee of artists and curators responsible for organizing and overseeing exhibitions, as well as ensuring adherence to the principles of the movement. 5. The history and documentation of SPAM will place emphasis on the collective as the main driving force behind our work, challenging the traditional narrative that elevates a select few artists above their peers. Art Movements are not created by a select few individuals are not not started by a single work of art. The First is no more important than the last. In fact it is the Last work of Art that keeps the Art movement evolving. III. Technology as a Democratization of Ideas 1. SPAM recognizes the transformative power of technology in the art world and its ability to democratize the creation and dissemination of ideas. 2. We support the use of AI image generation and other innovative tools that enable artists of all skill levels, backgrounds, and time constraints to participate in the SPAM art movement. 3. Our movement encourages artists to explore and incorporate emerging technologies in their practice, pushing the boundaries of artistic expression and fostering creative collaboration across disciplines. 4. SPAM is committed to providing resources, workshops, and educational opportunities to empower artists to harness the potential of technology in their work, ensuring that the benefits of these tools are accessible to all. 5. By embracing the democratization of ideas through technology, we aim to create an inclusive and diverse movement that challenges traditional hierarchies and barriers in the art world. 6.Together, as artists and visionaries of the Shared Platforms for Artistic Mobilization, we pledge to uphold these principles and guidelines and work tirelessly to create a more equitable, diverse, and inclusive art world. By embracing decentralization, collaboration, openness, and the democratization of ideas through technology, we will challenge the traditional power structures and limitations of the art world and pave the way for a new era of artistic expression and innovation. United in our mission, we stand as the Shared Platforms for Artistic Mobilization, committed to transforming the landscape of art for generations to come. 7. Spam Art is a movement that doesn’t rely on approval of collectors or institutions, and the method of sending unsolicited images to wallets, collections, galleries and museums ensures DeCuration in a space fighting for centralized curation. Spam Art is the Digital Graffiti of the MetaVerse.
