Description
AQUARIUS means “water carrier” or “cup bearer” in Latin. In mythology, Aquarius is associated with the story of Ganymede, a handsome young prince whom Zeus desired. Zeus transformed into an eagle and carried Ganymede to Mount Olympus to serve as the cup bearer to the gods. As a tribute to Ganymede's service, Zeus placed him in the stars as the constellation Aquarius. It was first catalogued by Greek astronomer Ptolemy along with the other Zodiac constellations and its brightest star is called Sadalsuud.
