The relationship between humans and sharks is historically complicated. Sharks are powerful, beautiful animals that mean us no harm, yet fear of them is stoked and sensationalized in the media. I have been fascinated with sharks since my childhood. SHARKS IN THE MACHINE - a new project one year in the making, is a series of 100 digital works with only one theoretically conceptual question in mind: If a thousand humans could describe sharks to an intelligent machine - could a machine representationally interpret irrational fear?
